Haleakala Traveler

This dormant volcano is topped by a 19-square-mile, half-mile-deep depression formed largely by erosion from torrential rains. A hike through “the Crater” reveals interesting plant life and geologic features. Another highlight is experiencing a spectacular sunrise or sunset from the volcano’s 10,023-foot summit.
