Sequoia's Giant Forest is home to thousands of massive sequoia trees, including five of the world’s 10 largest by volume. The Giant Forest’s famous General Sherman Tree arguably is the largest living thing on Earth, towering to 275 feet in height and almost 37 feet wide at its base.

Conservationist John Muir hailed Kings Canyon as a “rival” to the Yosemite Valley. It arguably is the nation’s deepest gorge, more than 8,000 feet deep a few miles outside the park. The park also is known for its pristine lakes, waterfalls, sequoia groves and mountains rising above 13,000 feet.
